 About Us

Breeding Morgans and 1/2 Morgans with color and class !

Coosa Valley Farm came into existence in the Spring of 1997 with our purchase of a gorgeous Arabian mare & her 3 week old colt. That pair carried the blood of *Bask. We soon added 3 more Arabians, wonderful mares bringing the blood of *Sabellina, Gai Parada, Perlezon, Ferzon & Azraff.

We had purchased a Morgan gelding named BT Mountain Dew along the way, and with his beauty & personality, it wasn't long before we discovered Morabs! In 2000 we purchased a fine Lippitt Morgan stallion to cross onto our Crabbet/Polish bred mares. The results were fantastic! Horses with excellent temperaments, beauty that holds the eye & terrific feet & legs.

In 2004, our focus began a shift to purebred Morgans. In order to add more height and also color to our breeding program, we added a palomino mare to our herd. In the Spring of 2005, she foaled a cremello colt. We named him RMD Blue Moon Desperado - after all, it is "once in a blue moon" that a creme colt is born!

Our breeding program focuses on quiet, willing temperaments and classic, correct conformation. A search for these traits brought us to Morgans that trace back to the government remount program, as well as western working Morgans.  Our program includes the Morgan blood of  UVM Promise, Equinox Benn Adam, Tutor, Trophy, Kingston, Archie O & Quizkid. Our Arabian bloodlines now include Khemosabi through WV Flash Gordon; and wonderful Russian lines through Luna RB.

Please visit our Mares page where you will find them listed by breed, Morgans first, then Arabians and last but not least, our Morab mare, Taylor Made. There are also links to more photos of each mare on her own page. On the Geldings page you will find both a Morgan and Morab, 1/2 brothers through their sire, Masada Mercury. The Stallion page shows our gorgeous cremello, Blue Moon Desperado.

So grab a cup of coffee or a cold glass of sweet tea (our favorite drink here in the South) and visit us and our horses. We also welcome you in person; please see our contact information below!
